Great value for bobbies
Derbyshire taxpayers are getting better value for money from their police force than most areas in the country, new figures reveal.
Since 2002, all crime in Derbyshire has fallen by over 40 per cent – which means there are 41,697 fewer victims of crime than there were nine years ago.
In addition, burglary rates have fallen by 62 per cent, vehicle crime by 70 per cent, violent crime by 17 and criminal damage by 35 per cent.
Philip Hickson, chairman of Derbyshire Police Authority, said: “These figures prove just how far we have come in the past decade in terms of driving down crime in the county and making our communities safer. As a rural force with one of the lowest funding settlements in the country, this performance is nothing short of remarkable.”
