DERBYSHIRE’S only World Heritage Site is asking people to look out their old films and photographs to see if they have anything which will help tell its story.

People are being asked to keep an eye out for items that relate to the history of the Derwent Valley Mills and the communities that grew up around them.

Anyone with film or video they think may be of interest should contact Richard Shenton from the Media Archive for Central England (MACE), at rshenton@lincoln.ac.uk.

The archivists would prefer to acquire the original materials as opposed to copying them, so they have the best possible copies held for posterity.

Anyone with photographs should contact the mills’ heritage co-ordinator Adrian Farmer at adrian.farmer@derbyshire.gov.uk or ring 01629 536831.

All photographs will be collected with utmost care, copied and returned to the owner.
