Castleton rock duo Drenge have been named as one to watch by the BBC.

The grunge two-piece were mentioned in a list of four of the country’s most promising bands by entertainment reporter Mark Savage.

Drenge, meaning boys in Danish, consists of Eoin Loveless, 21, on guitar and vocals, and his younger brother Rory, on drums.

The pair, who formed in 2011, rose to prominence following the resignation of Labour MP Tom Watson from the Shadow Cabinet in 2013, who wrote in his resignation letter on his blog: “if you want to see an awesome band, I recommend Drenge.”

The brothers have also been praised by NME for their “pleasingly feral” sound and have been championed by BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Steve Lamacq, who called them his favourite new band.

Last year, they released three singles Bloodsports, Backwater and Face like a Skull, and an album Drenge in August.

This month, Drenge are performing at Dot to Dot festivals in Manchester on May 23 and Nottingham on May 25.
