Hospice supports bereaved

A hospice has been given a cash boost to help grieving families cope with the loss of children.

East Cheshire Hospice has set up a new Childhood Bereavement Service using a grant of £180,470 from the Big Lottery Fund.

Director Mike Pyrah said: “Our research shows there’s been limited local provision offering this type of support and it’s tailored in such a way that it helps those involved with the hospice as well as local schools and other organisations.

“We’re grateful to the Big Lottery for this vital support and it’s example of how public money is benefitting the community and the development of East Cheshire Hospice.”

The service is run by children’s counsellor Lindsay Dobson. Any schools that wish to get involved are asked to call Lindsey on 01625 610364 ext 300.
