Jazzing up breakfast

Cool cats are invited to enjoy a jazz breakfast this weekend to raise money for charity.

The Bakewell Oxfam Supporters Group will be hosting the event on Sunday between 10.30am and 1pm.

The Steve Salfield band– a quartet of local professional jazz musicians – will be performing

Steve, on tenor and soprano saxophones, has played not only in contemporary jazz groups, blues and rock ’n’ roll bands, but also in classical orchestras.

Wendy Kirkland on keyboard is a well known pianist, organist and vocalist who leads her own band,The Organik Trio.

Pat Sprakes plays both double bass and guitar and Clive Loveday is a drummer.

The event, which is being held in The Medway Centre, in Brook Side, Bakewell, will be a mixture of old standards, original compositions and some unusual tunes from a variety of sources. 

A continental style breakfast will be served including tea, coffee, croissants, cheeses and cold meats.

Tickets can be bought from Bakewell Book and Gift Shop or reserved from Jude 01629 815469 or Daryl 01629 813209.

Entry is £8 for adults, £5 for children under 16 and students, and free for children aged under five.

All proceeds will go to Oxfam and people are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
