Learn more about Carsington’s winter birds

As ducks and geese flap their way towards the Peaks in search of a warmer climate, bird–lovers have the chance to learn more about them.

Carsington Water is a great place to see the winter birds as they travel there from further north.

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust is organising a one–day course on Sunday, November 11, to help identify some of the species.

People are invited to join the trust’s experts and learn to tell the males from the females and find out where they have come from.

The workshop is a combination of an informal indoor talk and a guided walk to see some of the birds.

Those taking part are advised to wrap up warm, bring their binoculars and brush up their identification skills.

The workshop takes place in the Wildlife Discovery Room, Severn Trent Carsington Water.

It starts at 10.30am and finishes at 1.30pm.

The cost is £8 per person and it is suitable for adults and supervised children aged 12 years and over.

Those wishing to take part are advised to book in advance as places are limited. They can do so by contacting Derbyshire Wildlife Trust on 01773 881188.
