Mobile phone signal boost for the Peak

The Peak District is set for a mobile phone coverage boost.

The Peak District is set for a mobile phone coverage boost.

Mobile phone users across the Peak District are to enjoy a better signal following a landmark agreement.

The Mobile Operators Association (MOA) – which represents EE, O2, Three and Vodafone – has struck a deal with National Parks England allowing it to boost coverage in the area.

The agreement states people living in the Peak District will benefit from “consistent high-quality mobile connectivity”.

Jim Bailey, chair of National Parks England, said: “This agreement will be good for the thousands of businesses and people living in the Peak District and for the millions who visit them.”

Govenrment communications minister Ed Vaizey said: “Our national parks are areas of incredible beauty but they are also places where people live and work.

“They need access to the modern communications that many of us have taken for granted for years. The new agreement could make a real difference to those who live, work or visit the Peak Distrcit.”

A spokesman for the MOA was unable to say when the improvements will be rolled out.
