MP learns to drive
DALES MP Patrick McLoughlin added another string to his bow as Transport Minister recently after learning to drive a vintage tram.
On Friday, October 26, Mr McLoughlin paid a visit to Crich Tramway Village as part of a regional tour.
During his visit Mr McLoughlin was shown around the George Stephenson discovery and learning centre as well as the museum’s library and archives – which house an array of tramway memorabilia.
The Secretary of State then took the opportunity to drive one of the vintage trams for himself.
Mr McLoughlin said: “I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to visit Crich Tramway Village in the heart of the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. I’ve been incredibly impressed by the hard work and dedication of the staff and volunteers who make this such a valuable attraction.”
