MPs visit Eurozone
TEN Highfields School parliament members flew to Zeist in the Netherlands as part of a European Union project to promote understanding and citizenship amongst EU schools.
In early November, school MP’s from each academic year jet-setted to the Eurozone so they could learn and share cultural experiences with other European school children.
Over the four days students discovered cultural differences – such as the popularity of bikes in Holland – and debated topics like the role of the Euro to what it means to be European.
Sara Miller, Highfields School representative, said: “The whole point of these trips is to boost pupils’ understanding of parliament – in the UK and Europe – and make them aware of cultural differences between schools from other countries. The pupils are so full of it when they get back – they love it.”
