Nominate your sporting hero today

PEOPLE across the Dales have until the end of the day to nominate their local sporting hero.

Derbyshire Dales District Council is urging people to build on the buzz of the Olympic and Paralymic games by nominating somebody for this year’s Sports Awards.

Councillor Carol Walker, Chairman of Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Communities Committee, said: “This year has been an overwhelming success for sport with the Olympics and Paralympics and we want local people to use this impetus to nominate their club, a team, a volunteer or a sports coach who has made a difference in the past year.

“Even top international successes start at grassroots level and we want to hear about people and organisations that engage effectively in a town or village to get people more active.”

Nominations can be made for 10 categories by visiting www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/sportsawards.
