OAP chases burglars
An elderly man chased off offenders after he found them ransacking his home in the night.
The man, who is in his 80s, was in bed at his home in Brooklands Avenue, Wirksworth, on Thursday last week.
At about 8.30pm he heard a noise and saw a light come on in his hallway.
He saw a man at his bedroom door, who he described as being 5 ft 10 in tall, of stocky build and wearing dark clothing.
The thief ran away and the old man ran after him.
Upon entering the rest of his house he found two more males, who ran off out of the door.
He saw them heading in the direction of Gorsey Bank.
The crooks had entered via a kitchen window and stolen cash from his wallet.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Derbyshire Police on 101 quoting crime reference number CR 44007/12.
