Officers snubbed: £25m Bakewell complex refused
PLANNERS have blocked plans for a £25million revamp of a Bakewell business complex.
Officers had supported an outline bid for 106 new houses and flats, refurbished business units and a new road bridge at Bakewell Riverside Business Park on Buxton Road.
But the Peak District National Park Authority voted to oppose the plan during a meeting at 10am on Friday, at Aldern House in Bakewell.

Campaigners had raised fears about flooding, access and over-expansion of the town.
Holme Lane and Lumford Residents' Association said the proposal could increase flood risk and lorry traffic, prompt future housing bids and cause an unsustainable five per cent growth in the town's population.
Friends of the Peak District had been unhappy at only 14 per cent of the planned homes being low-cost.
But its position eased, as the authority has proposed a clause which would force more homes to be sold to local people if the development becomes more profitable in future.
Pilsley-based developers Litton Properties said it could afford to build a maximum of nine low-cost flats due to 'abnormal costs' such as
the bridge, flood defences and ground decontamination.
Managing director Mark Twelves said a high number of market-priced homes was essential to fund the scheme and that critics were missing the point.
The bid has been repeatedly delayed since permission was first granted for a new River Wye road bridge in 1989.
