Party time in Bakewell
One of the Peak’s biggest summer celebrations is returning this weekend.
Bakewell Carnival will take place this Saturday as the culmination of a week of festivities in the market town.
As part of Bakewell carnival week there have been treasure hunts, fun runs, fell races, pet shows and a duck race.
Tonight there will be a raft race on the River Wye.
At 1.30pm on Saturday visiting queens will meet with judges for the Queen of Queens Trophy, who will judge them at 2pm.
At 2.15pm the prizes for the raft race will be given out by the retiring carnival queen, which will be followed by the crowning of the Bakewell Carnival Queen. The procession will start at 3pm.
Bakewell Pudding Shop has also sponsored a classic car concourse.
