Visiting speaker John Winkworth Smith entertained Bakewell and District Probus Club with an in depth speech relating to the history of Ashford–in–the–Water at a recent meeting at the Monsal Head Hotel.

Also at the meeting it was decided that the annual club debate would be held on March 11, and the subject under discussion would be the controversial Scottish Independence.
