Peter Farrer, from Chapel-en-le-Frith, has been presented with an award to mark 40 years of service with Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team member Peter Farrer has received a special award in recognition of 40 years’ service.

Peter, who lives in Chapel-en-le-Frith with his wife Margaret, is a very active hill-going member of the team, but has also served on the management committee for 22 years as Honorary Treasurer, and following a short break, returned to the committee as Fundraising Manager, a post he still holds.

He has also held posts both regionally and nationally, serving for eight years as the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation’s Treasurer, which he represented on the Mountain Rescue Finance Committee, now Mountain Rescue England and Wales.

Peter was presented with his two long-service awards, one from the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation and one from Mountain Rescue England and Wales, at a team training night.

He said: “ It has been a privilege to be a member of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team and to work with so many dedicated people. The team throughout the years has always moved forward and developed the service it provides through its hardworking members.”
