Officers from the Buxton and Fairfield Safer Neighbourhood Team have been heading out to speak to community groups about staying safe.

PC Stephen Blore and PCSO Linda Cook attended the Bright Opportunities youth club for adults with learning difficulties last Saturday and spoke to the group about hate crime.

They explained to members how to both recognise and report the crime, along with advice on where to go for further information and support.

The policing team also visited the Fairfield Methodist Church, on Fairfield Road, to chat to residents about the steps that they can take to further protect themselves from becoming a victim of crime.

The officers offered advice around rogue traders, increasing home and personal security and the ways to stay safe against rogue traders.

This includes ensuring that windows and doors are properly secure before leaving the property or going to bed, making sure that any valuable items are kept out of view and ensuring that house and car keys are removed from locks and from view of windows.

To speak to the team call 101, the non-emergency number for the police.
