Police hunt for garage thieves
Police in Wirksworth are appealing for information after a large quantity of cigarettes and alcohol was stolen from Bailey Cross Garage on Harrison Drive in the town.
The burglary happened at 10.30pm on Thursday night when three men broke in through a door and carried the stolen property to an awaiting car parked on the car park at the side of the garage.
Officers believe the car must have been in the area for some time as the offence occurred within 15 minutes of the staff leaving the premises.
They are appealing to anyone who saw a distinctive silver Vauxhall Meriva, with a sun roof over the front seats and five spoke wheels or wheel trims in the area.
After the burglary, at about 10.40pm, the vehicle left the garage and drove off towards the town centre.
Anyone who can help the police inquiry should contact DC Simon Rogers on 101 or alternatively ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
