Police pull over drivers
Police in Bakewell caught 29 drivers not wearing a seat belt during just one day of patrols.
Officers spent the day checking motorists outside the Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Agricultural Business Centre earlier this month, and pulled over ten people using their mobiles while behind the wheel, with a further eight found to have defective tyres.
Sgt Andy Wordsworth said: “The main aim of the operation is to remind motorists of their responsibilities behind the wheel, from making sure their vehicles are roadworthy, to driving carefully and with respect for local speed limits.
“It was a cold, frosty day with temperatures as low as minus seven when the checks were started and numerous drivers were stopped and spoken to about clearing their windscreens sufficiently.”
