Polly returns with a victory

Polly Veazey-French, Matlock triathlete

Polly Veazey-French, Matlock triathlete

Matlock triathlete Polly Veazey-French has been in action again.

Polly’s previous outing was the Helvellyn Triathlon, where her prize proved to be 12 stitches in her right knee, having fallen heavily in the last two miles of the final event, a run up and down Helvellyn. At 3,117 ft above sea level, it is the third highest peak in both the Lake District and England.

Needing to rest, Polly’s next run was a 20-mile outing at the 14th Annual Hope Moors and Tors Challenge, 20-mile challenging run in the Peak Park, starting and finishing at Hope Sports Club, Hope, North Derbyshire. The classic 20-mile route visits Mam Tor, Kinder Scout and Lose Hill, with climbs totalling 3691 ft and is a tough assignment.

Polly was very competitive from the gun and won the ladies race, beating all but 14 of the men in a field of over one hundred and fifty seasoned runners. Polly’s enforced layoff was a blessing and she has come back even stronger.

The triathlon season has finished now, and will resume again in the New Year. Polly is eying the new season with relish.

Derbyshire Sports Massage holds regular treatment sessions at Darwin Forest Country Park, with proceeds going towards a quality carbon racing bike for Polly.

To book an appointment, telephone Darwin on 01629 736 222 and visit www.matlock-one.co.uk to follow Polly’s progress.
