Pupils from St George's Primary School sow seeds in the churchyard to commemorate World War I.

St George’s Parish Church in New Mills joined parishes across Derbyshire recently in a grand planting of poppies to commemorate the First World War.

With the help of staff and pupils from St George’s Primary School and members of New Mills Women’s Group, poppy seeds were sown in areas of the church grounds.

Two pupils read short pieces during a service of remembrance and blessing, led by the Rev John Overton, curate from St George’s Parish Church.
