Remembrance events to honour fallen service personnel

RESIDENTS can pay their respects across the region during Remembrance Services for fallen armed services personnel.

An Act of Remembrance will be at the War Memorial, on Rose Hill, Chesterfield, at 11am on Friday.

Chesterfield’s Remembrance Service is on Sunday, November 13, at the Crooked Spire Church from 2.30pm followed by a parade to Rose Hill and wreath-laying about 3.15pm.

A Matlock Armistice Day gathering is at Park Head, from 11am on Friday with Remembrance Services on Sunday from Pic Tor memorial at 11am and Starkholmes memorial at 11.30am with a parade from Edgefield Road from 2.30pm and a service at Hall Leys Park Head at 3pm.

Dronfield will hold its Remembrance Service at the War Memorial outside the library.

A parade will leave School Lane at 10.15am and head to the memorial for 10.56am.

Remembrance Sunday arrangements for Clay Cross are to meet up in the Co-operative car park at 9.30am and march off at 9.45am up to church for service to start at 10am.

Danesmoor’s arrangements are planned to start from the St Barnabas Church Centre at 9.30am followed by service at 10am.

Remembrance arrangements for Alfreton are as follows. Assemble in Rodgers Lane Car Park from 10.15am onwards. Parade departs at 10.45am. Arrive at War Memorial for brief service. Last Post 11.00am. Reveille 11.02am and wreath laying. Move on to St Martin’s Church for service

Depart Church 12.10pm and parade along High Street to Rodgers Lane.

Palterton Primary School is holding a service to mark Armistice Day, on Friday, November 11. People can meet in the school playground at 10.15am to walk with a parade or they can meet at the Cenotaph at 10.40am for a service.

Staveley Town Council invites everyone to its Remembrance Day Parade on Sunday. The Parade will muster at 10.15am at St. John’s Road, Staveley – in time to leave at 10.25am. Alternatively attendees can muster at 10.25am in Staveley Market Place, where the Parade will pass and people can join the rear of the fall in as the Parade passes en-route to the Garden of Remembrance on Duke Street.

The Service, which is held in the Gardens of Remembrance, will start once the parade arrives – at approximately 10.50am . At the end of the Service, the Parade will march to Staveley Hall to be dismissed.

Bolsover Remembrance Day Parade and Service – 13th November 2011. The parade will assemble at the Castle from 10.20am onwards, in time for the commencement at 10.35am.

Clowne Remembrance Day Parade and Service will take place on Sunday, November 13, with a Clowne Salvation Army church service, from 9.30am, a parade from Church Street to Clowne Cenotaph from 10.25, and wreath laying at the cenotaph from 10.40am.
