Road closed after lorry smash at Ambergate
Lorry Crash: The A6 was closed northwards after this articulated lorry crashed under the bridge in Ambergate.
A lorry driver was taken to hospital after his truck went into a bridge.
The accident occurred at a bridge over the A6 at Ambergate this afternoon, near the junction for the A610 road by the Hurt Arms.
Fire crews were called to the scene at 1.55pm and were joined by police and ambulance services.
Firefighters made the vehicle safe, while police officers redirected traffic.
Motorists were advised that the A6 at Ambergate was closed, with vehicles redirected along the A610.
Work was started to recover the lorry and Network Rail inspected the bridge to see if it is safe.
The driver was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital for treatment.
