School kids police visit

CHILDREN as young as two-years-old have been learning about the work of police after pupils at one Dales school paid a visit to ‘the nick’.

Ten youngsters from Bradwell Preschool went on a trip to the Netherside police station on September 25.

PCSO Anthony Boswell of the Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team spoke to the youngsters about what police officers and Police Community Support Officers do.

The youngsters also had the chance to sit in a police car, test the sirens and to try out parts of a police uniform, including different hats and jackets.

PCSO Boswell said: “It is important that we meet local youngsters from an early age as it helps for them to understand what the police do and improves their confidence in talking to officers should they ever need any help.”
