School pupils hit gold standard

Celebrations are underway after a Matlock school scored excellent exam results. Pupils at Crich Junior School achieved a 100 per cent pass rate at Level 4 in their Key Stage 2 assessment, an improvement of six per cent over the school’s 2012 figures. The tests are taken annually by children aged ten to 11, with this year’s results making Crich Junior School one of the best performing schools in the region.

Across Derbyshire schools averaged a 78 per cent pass rate, three per cent above the national average. Councillor Kevin Gillott, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “We are pleased that our pupils are doing well compared to children nationally.

“Our pupils and teaching staff are working hard to continue to raise standards even higher.”
