MORE than 300 primary school children put their best foot forward to compete in the annual Lady Manners cross country event.

The well-supported event attracted youngsters from primary schools across the Dales – with the first race solely dedicated to infant school pupils.

In total 70 young people took part in the event and, with help from Lady Manners sports leaders in year 11, each contender completed the gruelling course.

Following the races, sports leaders whisked youngsters away for an afternoon of multi-skilled sporting activities.

Jayne Roach, School Sports Co-ordinator, said: “Well done to all involved in this enjoyable event. We have seen some very promising talent emerging during the afternoon.”

First place were awarded to Charlie Finney, and Madeleine Sharples. Second places were taken by Charlie Richardson and Emillie Speak.
