Cadets have proudly paraded before some of the most important people in the county.

Buxton Sea Cadets lined up for inspection at a Royal Navy Parade held at their centre in Silverlands on Tuesday evening.

Among the dignitaries who attended the event were the Duke of Devonshire, Mayor of the High Peak, Cllr Pat Jenner, Vice Chairman of Derbyshire County Council, Cllr Chris Jackson and Mrs Sally Jackson, President of the Rotary Club of Buxton, David Hopkins and President of Buxton and District Royal Naval Association, Bob Taylor.

The evening started with a talk by senior cadets explaining the purpose of the inspection.

The inspecting officer, Commander Mark Irwin, officially arrived at 7.25pm and the formal inspection started at 7.30pm.

There was a colours ceremony and prayers, led by Rev Colin Smith, followed by an inspection of the division.

Later, cadets performed displays in the Drill Hall and Boat Shed.
