Shoppers urged to keep their purses safe

Police are reminding shoppers to be on their guard in the run up to Christmas.

Bakewell Safer Neighbourhood Team will be chatting to residents about crime prevention in a bid to crack down on theft over the festive season.

PCSO Hayley Grundy said: “Keep your items in a secure zipped bag and be on your guard to stop thieves getting their hands on your belongings.”

Purse chains are used to attach the purse to a zip inside a handbag, to help prevent the purse being stolen from the . Bells are also used as a deterrent to thieves.
