VISITORS to a renowned Matlock furniture store have been transported back to a bygone era of manufacturing.

Indigo Furniture, in Dale Road, hosted a Best of British sensory event, showcasing the sights, smells and sounds of the golden age of British manufacturing.

The spectacular was the idea of the store’s creative Director, Abi List, and featured interactive displays including ‘The Old Tannery’, ‘The Old Foundry’ and ‘The Old Workshop’.

The displays showed the time-honoured techniques still put to use by the store today using more up-to-date equipment.

In explaining her motivation behind the project, Abi said: “Every year we like to hold numerous events at our Matlock based showroom, keeping our previous customers up to date with new products while introducing ourselves to potentially new customers.

“With a theme thrown in and food and drink on offer it’s a great opportunity for Indigo to say ‘thank you’ to all it’s customers.

“Here at Indigo we’re so passionate about our furniture from the design process right through to the manufacturing side of things that we wanted to theme an event around this and explain to our customer’s that we still manufacture everything – most of it still in Britain.”

Clair Ashmore, showroom manager, said “The event was great success and customers really enjoyed making the connection between the traditional manufacture process and the modern furniture they know and love.”
