A Peak District village was blessed with glorious sunshine for the crowning of its 2014 rose queen.

Mischa Balderstone officially took over the role of Flash Rose Queen from Alice Wilkinson during a short celebratory ceremony and blessing at St Paul’s Church on Saturday May 17. Mischa was joined by attendants Xenia Balderstone, Molly Lee and Leon Balderstone.

The festivities later transferred to Quarnford Memorial Hall, where the event was formally opened by guest of honour Gwennyth Wilde, and afternoon tea was served. Other events included a raffle, games and stalls, with music provided by local school children.

A total of £750 was raised for Quarnford Memorial Hall and St Paul’s Church.
