An historic village clock has been given a new face thanks to funding from a supermarket.

Staff from the Waitrose, in Buxton, presented St Bartholomew’s Church, in Longnor, with a cheque for £300 to pay for restoration work to its clock following a collection in store.

The clock was repaired and repainted, as well as being given an automatic winder.

Vicar James Forrester commented: “The dial on the clock was so faded that you could hardly read the time, but now it’s very clear.”
