Teens charged over Matlock social club blaze

Three teenagers have been charged in connection with a fire at a Matlock social club just days before Christmas.

The boys, aged 13, 14 and 16 have been accused of arson following the blaze at Hurst Farm Social Club on Hazel Grove.

They are due to appear before magistrates in Chesterfield later this month.

Firefighters were called to the club, on the afternoon of Thursday, December 22 following reports of a fire in a smoking shelter at the back of the club.

The shelter was well alight when they arrived and it had spread to a section of the club roof which was left damaged.

The social club contacted police as they believed the cause of the fire to be suspicious.
