Timescale still not too tight for consultation
A council chief has vowed the public will still be consulted on plans for Bakewell Road – despite concerns about the timescale of the project.
Cllr Lewis Rose, leader of Derbyshire Dales District Council, has responding to fears expressed by members of the public that there may be too little time to consult before work begins on the controversial Matlock site.
As the authority’s preferred developer, Henry Davidson Developments’ bid is available for the public to view in full upon application to the council
Within the bid, the developer makes references to a potential Morrisons food store, and suggests work could start in summer next year to be completed in December 2013.
Cllr Rose said: “Having chosen Henry Davidson as our preferred developer it is for them to come back to the council with their detailed proposals.
“We would consult the public about these proposals.”
He maintained the public would be consulted both before an after a formal planning application was made.
He added that, in own personal opinion, he thought it unlikely work would be started by next summer.
