YOUNGSTERS across Derbyshire are officially top of the class after outperforming schools across the country in national tests.
Provisional figures released by the Government show that results are better in all subjects – at all levels – in tests for 11-year-olds.
Derbyshire schools have seen an increase in all subjects at Key Stage 2 in the expected levels and are now among the top performing authorities in all subjects in higher levels of attainment.
Derbyshire County Council has welcomed the news which continues the significant improvements in standards notched up by the county’s schools.
Councillor Mike Longden, Cabinet Member for Education, said: “This is excellent news and I’m sure parents will be pleased to hear that the quality of education offered in Derbyshire continues to improve.
“We keep getting better and better results and these on-going improvements are set to continue as we focus on raising standards even higher.
“These results have not happened by chance. They are reward for hard work and planning and I would like to congratulate staff, pupils, parents and governors for their tremendous efforts.”
