Trek for sealife

A young animal lover has trekked over hill and dale to raise money for his favourite flippered friends.

Oscar Szabo, aged seven, completed a ten–mile sponsored walk raising £69 for the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS).

The youngster, of Main Road, Wensley, started out at Thorpe village and walked via Dovedale to Hartington in just under five hours.

Father Matt said: “Oscar has always been mad keen on all types of animals and is particularly fond of whales.

“Via the WDCS he has adopted a Humpback Whale called Pepper.

Oscar was keen to raise money to help Pepper and other whales.”

The young fund–raiser got sponsorship from friends and relatives, as well as local artist and renowned conservationist Pollyanna Pickering.
