VIDEO: Classic motors pull in Ashover crowds

Waiting for Video...

There was a record turnout at a classic car and bike show as the crowds came out to enjoy some vintage motors in the sunshine.

The fourth annual Ashover Classic Car and Bike Show was held in Rectory Fields, organised by the Rotary Clubs of Chesterfield, Chesterfield Scarsdale, Clay Cross, and Matlock and sponsored by Autoworld.

There were more than 700 classic cars, bikes, and scooters for people to enjoy.

The winning classic vehicle was owned and renovated by Pete Holland, of Matlock, with a unique 1966 Bedford J2 10 seater coach built originally for the Royal Household in London and Sandringham and was used for the Queen’s Jubilee in 1977.

The winning classic bike was owned by Kevin Lee of Horsley Woodhouse, near Ilkeston, with a 1950 500 cc Royal Enfield J2 Twin Port.

He bought the bike four years ago to renovate it after it had been stored in a farmers barn for 40 years.

Proceeds from the event will be split between local charities.
