Waste not want not in the Dales
Eco-conscious residents will have been excited to receive their new recycling containers this week as part of a council scheme to help the environment while saving money.
Derbyshire Dales District Council will be rolling out the containers to households throughout the area until the end of next week in a massive service change.
The authority is asking residents to note however that the new collection arrangements will begin the week after they receive their new containers.
Households receive an instruction leaflet and a calendar informing them of their new collection day and every household in the Dales will have a single collection day every week.
The authority has also launched a roadshow explaining the changes, details of which can be found at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/waste – where an explanatory web video and other information can also be found.
Items that can be recycled at home for the first time in the Dales include plastic bottles and containers, foil trays, aerosols, beverage cartons and household batteries. The majority of households will receive a new blue–lid recycling wheeled bin and two food waste caddies.
The council has also launched an online postcode search, informing people of which containers will be collected when.
