Wooden path ‘dangerous’
A councillor has called for action at a “dangerous” wooden walkway.
Cllr Ron Bowden said he was worried youngsters might be tempted to play on the rotting structure next to the Co-op store on Market Street in Whaley Bridge.
It is understood workmen used the walkway so they could put up billboards at the side of the building.
Speaking during a meeting of Whaley Bridge Town Council last Thursday, Cllr Bowden said: “I do consider it to be a dangerous structure and see it being a problem.
“I’ve seen children looking at it as though they might want to climb on it.
“It’s very insecure and overlooks the river.”
Cllr Bowden suggested the town council writes to the Co-op about the problem.
