A country estate is offering free family entertainment this weekend with a woodland fair.

The National Trust will be hosting the event at Ilam Park on Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 4pm.

Visitors will have the chance to take part in a number of woodland crafts, toast marshmallows, make a bird box and go on a woodland trail, as well as watch demonstrations by experts and crafts people.

National Trust ranger for Ilam Park, Stuart Macpherson said: “Visitors to this free event will be able to watch tree climbing, a chainsaw sculptor, George the heavy horse pulling timber, and have a go at wooden spoon carving and make a wooden stool.”

While the event is free, small charges will apply for some family activities.
