Tinchy Stryder joins biggest line-up of artists ever for Chesterfield Pride

Chart-topping rapper Tinchy Stryder is the latest big name to be announced for Chesterfield Pride this summer.

Tinchy will be performing at Stand Road recreation ground, Whittngton Moor, on July 23. He will join Nineties boyband A1, who headline the event, Stooshe, Alex Party and Lolly on the main stage.

One of the most popular British rappers of his generation, Tinchy has a highly successful career in the entertainment industry, releasing four studio albums and achieving two number one singles to date.

In 2009, his track Number 1, featuring N-Dubz, stormed the UK charts going straight in at number one, closely followed by his single, Never Leave You. His music career has seen him go on to become a popular TV personality appearing on the likes of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity Juice. Tinchy continues to release new music, has founded his own independent label Cloud 9 and performs at some of the UK’s biggest events and festivals.

Fellow chart-topping act A1 scored two number one hits in 2000, with Take On Me and Same Old Brand New You. Two years ago, A1 released the song Spiders which was written by all four original members.

Stooshe hit the top five in the UK charts with their debut single Love Me, featuring American rapper Travis McCoy. Subsequent singles Black Heart peaked at number three and Slip reached number 12 on the UK Singles Chart.

Electronic dance grouip Alex Party scored a number two hit with Don’t Give Me Your Life in 1995. Two years earlier, their debut single Saturday Night Party (Read My Lips) becane an Ibiza anthem during the summertime and their first top 40 hit in the United Kingdom, reaching number 29.

Singer Lolly has had five chart hits during her career, with Mickey giving her the highest chart position at number four in 1999, followed by Viva La Radio, BIg Boys Don’t Cry, Per Sempre Amore and Girls Just Want To Have Fun.

Chesterfield Pride’s cabaret stage will be home to lots of fun too. Lawrence Chaney, the season two winner of Ru Paul’s Drag Race will headline the cabaret stage where there will be performances from tribute artists, drag queens and the best of unsigned local artists including Sammy Murdock, Poppy-Mai and Alfie Darlin.

Dan Walker, organiser of Chesterfield Pride, said: “I am so excited for this summer’s event. This is our biggest ever line-up of artists. We have some amazing talent performing from artists who have sold millions worldwide to amazing local performers. There is so much going on throughout the day. We have amazing food vendors, our brand new KidsZone, market area and lots more. We are proud to be a community event open to everyone.”

Fans have taken to social media to express their excitement about the line-up. Tanya Moger posted: “This Pride is going to be epic!” Emma Abrams-Pashley commented: “Got a brilliant line up this year. Sounds ace!”
