A Buxton teacher turned a short jog into an ultramarathon at the weekend by completing 652 loops of The Slopes, in aid of a Ghanian school he plans to visit with his pupils.

Aleks Kashefi ran just under 75 miles from 4.20am on Saturday till 1.40am on Sunday, raising £1,900 for Buxton Community School’s partner school Kissi Ebeneezer High.

Describing himself as an “utter lunatic” for attempting the feat, he said: “I wanted to provide their students with the opportunities we take for granted and expect as our right.”
