If you’re looking for a great evening out, get down to Chapel Playhouse and enjoy a laugh a minute watching Miles Tredinnick’s Up Pompeii.

Whether you’re old enough to have seen the TV show or film, or even if you’ve never heard of it, Harry Goddard’s Lurcio will guide you wonderfully through the shenanigans of the Romans of ancient Pompeii.

It might not be historically accurate, but with characters like the mad soothsayer (Amy Jackson), the evil Captain Treacherus (John Gilberthorpe) and the bumbling Kretinus (Andy Hearfield-Hodgson), laughs are guaranteed.

There are plenty of lovely ladies too, from the beautiful Suspenda (Deborah Barnes) to Voluptua the escaped slave (Sarah Banks).

After several starring roles on-stage, this is the first production Becky Simpson has directed for Chapel Players.

She told the Advertiser: “Rehearsals have been so much fun, and the cast and crew are great. Come along and you’ll definitely have a fun-filled evening of sun, sex, and the odd volcanic eruption!”

Up Pompeii is on at Chapel Playhouse, on Eccles Road, tomorrow (Friday), Saturday, next Friday May 16 and Saturday May 17 at 7.45pm.

Tickets can be bought from Halls Mica Hardware, at 116 Market Street, Chapel-en-le-Frith or by calling 01298 812260 and cost £8 or £6 concessions.
