Think globally and shop locally
Green Thinking: Harry Davies as a Tiger and Ben Selby as an Orangoutang promoted the annual Greenpeace Spring Fair at the Imperial Rooms, Matlock.
The streets of Matlock were a hive of activity over the weekend as Greenpeace activists and Totally Locally campaigners took to the streets to spread some good in the community.
Matlock’s Totally Locally campaign aims to promote small business in the area by encouraging people to divert money to them rather than spending with supermarkets and global brands.
Helen Cunningham, Totally Locally campaigner, said: “The day was absolutely fantastic and we had lots of interest from people who said they would shop locally knowing that even a small amount can make a huge difference.”
Greenpeace activists were also at large – some even dressed in orangutan and tiger outfits – raising awareness and funds for the good work the organisation does.
Laura Stevens, Greenpeace Activist, said: “We raised about £600 and everybody who called in got actively involved in a campaigning against using rainforest wood for fast-food packaging.”
