Unique running events support Derbyshire charity

SIGHT Support Derbyshire are appealing for local residents to support them by taking part in four unique events.

The charity have teamed up with Derbyshire company X runner, who hold 5k and 10k races which take on over 30 obstacles including giant walls, scramble nets, balance beams, tunnels, hurdles and a swim across the river with endless amounts of mud and water thrown in, to offer a special rate for entry for the events.

Entrance is normally over £50 but anyone taking part for Sight Support Derbyshire can pay a registration fee of just £15 with a minimum sponsorship of £150.

Steve Walker, of X runner said “We are delighted to support a local charity that does fantastic work for a whole range of people in the community we live and work in.

“Whether someone wants to run as an individual or as a team of four, they are sure to enjoy the unrivalled camaraderie of the route.

“The adventure course will be a challenge to your mental and physical abilities.

“If we can all join in to raise money for a local organisation even better. Each entry will include the UK’s most advanced timing system, technical t-shirt, goodie bag, showers, changing facilities and free parking”.

Events in 2013 start on March 17 with the Wild Warrior at Brailsford, then the Mad Monk at Darley Abbey Park on May 5, the Water Wipeout at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham on June 29 and finally the Wild Thing on September 8 at Brailsford.
