Tributes to a club stalwart
Many local bowlers have been saddened to hear the news that Brian Moore passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, February 8, at the age of 83.
Following early retirement from the county council, Brian joined Matlock Park Bowls Club in 1988 and later served as club secretary for over 17 years until 2008.
President of the Chesterfield & District Bowling Association, Brian was also secretary of the Matlock & District Bowls League for the past eight years and a vice-president of Matlock Park Bowls Club.
As a regular and reliable contributor, Brian sent weekly results to the Matlock Mercury for both the Matlock Park club and the Matlock & District Bowls League.
Brian will be sorely missed in bowling circles where he had been a prominent and active supporter of the sport for many, many years.
