CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH angler Eddie Laister made history by becoming the first person to land the Paul Wallis Memorial Shield for a record third time.
Laister completed the hat-trick of wins at the beautiful Lafarge ponds at Hope Works in late September, adding to the titles won in 2004 and 2007.
With title-favourites Gregory, Rumbellow and Longdon all absent, Laister turned in a match-winning performance of both skill and technique.
At the weigh-in there was no doubt of the winner with Laister’s fantastic haul being over 5lb in weight more than second-place competitor Nathan Hayes. Simon Hackney rounded off the top-three with another strong performance.
Laister was awarded the Paul Wallis Memorial Shield by Paul’s dad Peter during a presentation evening at Rems in Chapel, attended by Paralympic gold medal winning-cyclist Anthony Kappes.
The competition also helped raise £360 which has been donated to Paul’s charity, the colon cancer research unit at The Christie.
