With Matlock's first game for nearly six weeks scheduled for Tuesday away at Leander, hard outdoor training continued this week amongst the scenic surroundings of the New Bath Hotel.
Coach for the this week and last Phil Elwell pulled no punches when asked about what to expect.

"It is cold and hard, but so is the opposition on Tuesday and we have to be.

“A bit of steel in our game will turn our improving performances into wins."

With the last two games being cancelled due to the Lido's roof problems, Matlock need competitive action to continue their recent development.

“"We don't want the rust to set in," added Phil.

"Leander is a hard place to play but we can make it competitive."

Meanwhile, back in Hungary, rumours abound that Richard Massey is finding training tough with a local top class side.

"Their warm-up is more than our main session.

Their ten year olds are bigger than our seniors.

They have more training sessions than we have hot meals.

They have more weekly weight training sessions than I have pints.

“I can't take it."

Some of that we do believe!
