MATLOCK Town have pounced to snap up three new players in seven days.
Belper Town hotshot Ross Hannah, Ilkeston Town full-back Lee Featherstone and Lincoln United defender Ashley Foyle have all put pen to paper for the Gladiators.
Hannah, 22, scored 26 goals in 48 league and cup games for UniBond First Division Belp
er last season, including the crucial second leg penalty which sealed the Derbyshire Senior Cup final win against Alfreton Town in April.
Last season was Hannah’s second spell with The Nailers, having banged in 16 goals in just 20 games during the last few months of the 2005/06 campaign before being signed by Gainsborough Trinity.
He returned to Christchurch Meadow last summer after almost a season with the Lincolnshire side, who last week lured James Lukic away from Matlock after ten years.
“We feel we did not score enough goals last season and wherever he’s been he brings goals,” said Matlock joint manager Phil Brown, who sees Hannah as the ideal striking partner for Simon Barraclough.
“They’re like gold-dust goalscorers, and we feel he’s one who is going to bring us goals.”
Management partner Gareth Williams added: “It’s an excellent signing and we’ve fought off the likes of Ilkeston.
“He’s signed for the right club, one that will push him forward, and if he wants to go up there’s never been a better club to do that.
“What I like about him as a player is that he’s versatile and he is as comfortable into feet as he is running in behind, and, as a forward, to have both is a great attribute.
“When I saw him his attitude was first class.
“His running for the team, harrying, his closing down and defending from the front was excellent.”
The 21-year-old Foyle once led the Chesterfield youth team to a league title.
