ALTHOUGH Matlock Baileans Hockey Club are still searching for a new club coach, training has begun for all players on a Tuesday evening at Wirksworth Leisure Centre, from 7-9pm, in readiness for the new season ahead, and new players are always welcome.
The first team are looking to go one step better than last season when their bid to enter the women’s National League failed at the final hurdle, after reaching the play-offs.

The second team are hoping to start in the form they finished with last season, which would see them pushing for promotion from the Midlands Conference League.

Along with the third, fourth and fifth teams Matlock have entered a sixth team into this year’s Derbyshire League Two so, hopefully, all members can have the opportunity to play Saturday matches.

In conjunction with Derbyshire Dales Disitrict Council, Matlock Monkeys are running a daily summer club from August 27-29 for boys and girls aged 7-14 years old.

Those new to the sport are very welcome to come along and give it a try as there will be fun and games to suit everyone.

For more details and booking contact Wirksworth Leisure Centre on 01629 824717.
