Police forensics officers investigate fight scene in Chesterfield

Police were called after reports of a fight on a Chesterfield street last night.

Officers attended the incident on St Helen’s Street at about 11pm, and a 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

They were alerted after reports of two men fighting in the street.

Passers-by reported seeing forensics officers, ‘multiple police cars’ and a large police cordon.

A spoksperson for Derbyshire police said: “Officers attended St Helen’s Street in Chesterfield at around 11pm yesterday evening (13 September) in response to a report of an alleged assault after two men were seen fighting in the street.

“A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

“The victim sustained cuts and bruises, but his injuries are not believed to be serious,” the spokesperson added in a statement.
