Thousands of pensioners in Chesterfield will lose their automatic entitlement to a free TV licence.

The BBC has announced that free licenses for over-75s will be means tested from June 2020, in a controversial move which has drawn criticism from campaigners.

Office for National Statistics data estimates that in 2016 there were 6,950 households in Chesterfield with at least one resident aged 75 or older.
